Maine Beer Tours and Port City Running Tours are partnering up to bring you our Running Brew Tours in Portland.
We will meet at The Thirsty Pig to start our run to our first stop. On our run we will be talking about the role Portland played in Prohibition and pointing out several historical landmarks.
Rising Tide – This husband- and wife-owned brewery was founded near Allagash in 2010, and moved to the now-bustling East Bayside neighborhood in 2012. They have experienced tremendous growth with the popularity of their core beers like Zephyr and Maine Island Trail Ale.
A production center unlike any other, the Urban Farm Fermentory focuses on fermentation in all of its wild and untamed glory. Hard cider you’ve surely heard of, but maybe not quite like this: Fresh-pressed local apples, wild-fermented, dry as a bone. The kombucha is where UFF truly shines and will surely surprise the uninitiated: a fermented tea, this tonic is low in alcohol but high in tart, fruity flavor, mixed with a startling variety of locally-grown herbs and spices.
Oxbow Blending and Bottling – A dynamic brewery with a true farmhouse operation in Newcastle, Oxbow Brewing Company recently opened a second tasting room and warehouse facility to better serve the Portland community. The hip space is bursting with graffiti by local artists and jammed with oak barrels to grow the company’s internationally-recognized wild beer program. This gives fans unprecedented access to a wide range of Oxbow’s hoppy saisons and funky experiments.
Tours will be run at a relaxed pace. Each participant must be at least 21 years old and is required to bring a valid ID.
Please note that tour stops may change without notice due to events and availability of staff at each venue.
