The Maine Brew Bus and Portland Harbor Water Taxi are partnering up to bring you our brand new Brews Cruise – Walking and Boat Tours!
We will meet at Old Port Spirits and Cigars and walk to Shipyard Brewing Company. On our walk we will be talking about the role Portland played in Prohibition and pointing out several historical landmarks – including early brewery locations!
Shipyard Brewing Company, founded in 1994, is the largest brewery in the state of Maine. The legendary partnership of Fred Forsley and Alan Pugsley of Shipyard Brewing, is not one to look past. Starting in Kennebunk as Federal Jack’s Brew Pub, Shipyard made their way to Portland in 1994 after they grew out of there space only a year later. Even now, with new breweries opening up all over Portland, they continue to be a huge player in Portland’s craft beer industry today.
After Shipyard we will head to the docks to meet Captain Ben from Portland Harbor Water Taxi. Ben runs his water taxis seven days a week bringing sightseeing tours, sunset cruises, private boat rentals and more to the people of Casco Bay! We will hop on the boat and Ben will shuttle us across the Bay to our stop at Foulmouthed Brewing.
Veteran homebrewers Craig Dilger and Bill Boguski have joined forces to bring Foulmouthed Brewing to life in South Portland. Their brewpub has been built inside a former auto and boat repair facility, and the brewery is also well designed for large scale production. Opened in June of 2016, Foulmouthed provides a unique assortment of beers that have been crafted to pair with the food turned out from their sunny kitchen. Learn about the origin of the name as you tour one of the most unique breweries in Maine.
Finally, we will get back onboard the boat and drop you off across from Old Port Spirits and Cigars for those final purchases before you continue your exploration of lively downtown Portland!
Please note that tour stops may change without notice due to events and availability of staff at each venue.
